Paladin (from Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Gygax RP, et al)

The Paladin is one of the standard playable character classes in most editions of the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game. The paladin is a holy knight, crusading in the name of good and order, and is a divine spellcaster. From 1st through 3rd edition, paladins were required to maintain the Lawful Good alignment. In addition, compared with other classes the paladin class has one of the most restrictive codes of conduct and paladin characters are expected to demonstrate and embody goodness. Failure to maintain a lawful good alignment or adhere to the code of conduct causes paladins to lose their paladin status and many of their special abilities until they are able to atone.

You, dressed to vanquish the shuffling leagues of undead assailing you and your mom in your trailer castle located somewhere off the grid near the KOA.
If you only had a brain, and selected a real class, you wouldn't be on this page at all.

Cosplaying A Tin Man

Yep, you know who you are. A sad throwback to the JediSolo play era, when wearing your rp armor around the house gave you morning wood and an excuse to hide from the rest of humanity. You might still live with your mom in an out-of-the-way motel, and things are good as long as the Zima is flowing and you can troll cute girls on your /r/incel threads.

You are the quintessential paladin, and therefore can skip this page. You know it like the back of your sword hand, and you've only played this class since the beginning of time because your mind has atrophied and your cod piece is rusted shut.

For the rest of you, wondering if you should embark upon this thankless character class task, here are some pages we've put together in hope of discouraging you from playing the most boring class in the game.

Paladin Strategy

Back in the middle ages, when JediMUD was created, the Paladin served a dual purpose: it could fight like a warrior and it could heal like a cleric -- well it could heal like a cleric that didn't prac any higher level healing spell than cure light.

It was enough, however, for the chickens of Jedimud / cosplay / non-pk crowd to satisfy their collective joneses for non-real world game danger. But the shiny breastplates! Sure, plenty of those to be had.

If you must have a Paladin, (and I'd hold off until Paladin gets some sort of PFA (protection from anarchy - the ability to ward of DEF_PROC entropy mob casts) and a couple of SHIELDBASH SHIELDCHARGE variants), find a couple of safe zones in the following list and start building your equipment set.

The other slightly interesting benefit to running at least a 0 remort pally is the massive STR_ADD bonus they get upon character creation or re-rolls, both unpaid (5) and paid. I created a bunch of paladins as storage chars, and am just now remorting them to more useful classes, keeping the sweet 7 to perf rolls.
