2024 Modifications

This is a compendium of all changes that have been implemented after the new Admin assumed their roles: Ching - CIMP, Silverking - God (ret.), Aegon - Demi Area Coordinator, Warrim God - Mob/Object Balance, Guts Demi - DG Trigger Support, Pablo Demi - Zoom Coordinator. A lot of changes have been accomplished in a very short period of time, so many that the only real way to keep track of them is on this page.

There are some hidden changes that may be revealed by looking around old areas that seem to have new mobs, mob performances or mob speech clues.

Mob Updates

Occasionally while fixing bugs and typos and implementing ideas, we'll find some zone features that had been overlooked and/or mis-implemented for ages. Here are some clues to new items and mobs that have been re-discovered. This list includes new mobs and items, too!

Zone Updates

Zone	Modification
Metro Station	The original mobs and loads have been accurately restored to the Metro Car section of the Metro Station zone as originally written by Steppin. Additional mob performances have been added for a more immersive subway experience. Metro Station announcements can now be heard in all Metro Cars. Metro passengers will hop on and off the Metro Car, so you may find tourists and passengers near Metro Stations. Be friendly! Buy them lunch. In order to stop crime on the Metro, the Transit Authority has prohibited magic use inside the train. To discourage bandits, astral travel is also prohibited. To apprehend the cowards that are attacking innocent commuters, undercover officers have been dispatched to ride along the ordinary citizenry. Be advised. In the future, player characters conducting violence against the citizenry will suffer major PRESTIGE loss. Maintaining a high prestige will unlock higher level quests. Think of prestige like reputation: if you are purportedly a good-aligned player character and you routinely slaughter defenseless citizens, your reputation as will suffer tremendously. This attribute is of no importance to those content with hack and slash 1990s gameplay. However, if you are interested in participating in RP Questing, keep this in mind when new Quest systems are introduced. It will matter. The Metro Transit Authority is considering offering an annual pass. Stay tuned.
HyperLoop VTS	SpaceX and Froboz bring you an improved hyperLoop circuit. Stop by any Metro Station and have the friendly hyperLoop staff direct you to a fast, convenient, and potentially life-ending vacuum tube experience! The Future is Tomorrow! hyperLoop VTS! Complete the hyperLoop quest and take home your own commemorative prize! SpaceX/Froboz Inc. are considering offering an annual pass. Stay tuned.
Shuttle Tyderium	The commercial shuttle "Tyderium" has been upgraded at considerable expense to provide up-to-the-moment communications linkage with the Imperial Towers located in the GED and on planet Tatooine. Hang out with the junior Communications Officer in the Outpost if you'd like to shadow him for a day. You're on your way to becoming a shuttle pilot! Also, killing the current shuttle pilot, Zaphod Beeblebrox is not advised. He's the pilot. You get it. The commercial shuttle is now carrying passengers of all types, not just noobs from JediMUD. The Imperial Base Commander on Tatooine has been made aware of counterfeit orders somehow making their way into the Imperial Navy Shuttle transit system. Be aware that if you bear counterfeit orders, you may be stopped, incarcerated, or killed on sight. Imperial Enforcer Droids are now manning both spaceports.
Imperial Shuttle	The Imperial Shuttle is available for travel should you procure official orders (via the Commander in the GED) or counterfeit orders purchased from the shady officer at the Tatooine Spaceport. New destinations coming soon.
Guilds	The Guilds in the three hometowns are getting facelifts. All mobs, from t guild guard, to training master, will get personalized storylines, gear and triggers if they don't already have detailed descs. All guild guards will offer better xp, and consistent xp across HTs. Shopkeepers will occupy !vio rooms and will only sell to their guild, as was intended by the original sub-zone authors. Guild guards may have new procs, new gear and new alignments commonly associated with their particular class.
Select Areas	Signature mobs in select areas are getting enhanced speech procs. Don't annihilate the village! Sit down, sip on a liquid container, and listen to the local lore. Some examples of scintillating conversation can be found in Hellas, The Parliament of Owls, Downwind Sanctuary, and Camelot. More performance/speech procs are being added daily. Again, very soon, these are the same mobs that will be providing Quest clues. Look for NPC Hirelings in bars, saloons and inns. The more expensive the hireling, the better tha Quest line.
Area Connectivity	Discussions regarding zone interconnectivity are ongoing. Rumors of goblin tunneling have been reported by adventurers exploring the Goblinsville Caves. Captured goblin slaves report an ancient horror stirred by this unfortunate delving. Further reports are coming out of the Dwarven Village, the Abyss and Drow City. Additional reports have come in from the Darkspine Mountains regarding minotaur sightings near Dragon City. These are as yet unconfirmed.
Triggers to the Rescue	Some area designers expressed their wish for automated events once a player or group interacted with a mob. The limitations of previous iterations of DikuMUD, and CircleMUD prevented these implementations. With the advent of TBAMUD and dg_trigs, these design details can now be implemented and are being implemented. A good example of this is Enas Yorl's room in Sanctuary City. Osmium, the area writer, wished that the door close behind a player or group once they entered Yorl's Study. Enas Yorl's door now closes behind you. Another is Excalibur, the Sword in the Stone. If you fail to junk the sword when running Merlin sac, Excalibur will be welded to the ground, hoping to be freed by King Arthur. This is a puzzle. More to come.
The Old Elven Village	The Old Elven Village has its entire moblist restored, including the Fomorian. Visit again to experience the original joy as penned by its author, Steppin.
Corsair Citadel	Go find the Ancient Mariner and play his game of chance! Will only cost you a few coins a dieroll. You could get lucky and win a commemorative token if you beat the Mariner a number of times in a row! Or if you match his roll! >dieroll 100 You can now check your record vs. the Mariner with the command: >dieroll record
Slot Machines	Slot machines have been installed in select bars around the world. Please click the link for more information about odds, cost, etc.
Training Automatons	Froboz Inc. has generously donated four different types of training automaton for your solo or team enjoyment: standard combat, strike, backstab and magic. You can access them in the seldom used towers in the Sanctuary City sub-area, "The Watch Towers." For a limited time only, they may be magically accessed via your Midgaard Guildmaster. >train automaton To return to your guild after training, type: >train guildmaster You'll surrender the small amount of melee xp you earned while training. There's a rumor that an underground network of tunnels in the ancient Sanctuary City catacombs links all the Towers. Some of those who have used this secret tunnel system have not returned. If you are not a thief, you can still backstab the backstab training automaton by ordering it to a stunned position. Use this command: >order stun To wake the automaton up: >order wake
Andrus' Toy Land	G.I. Joe's Military HQ is now !mob, meaning that, even if you are clueless and leave the door open, the Captain can't wander in there, forever locking the room for an uptime.
Wayhouse	The Wayhouse mobs have been given a tad more freedom to move around and their long descriptions are now consistent across all named mobs. You'll get the long description instead of the SDESC, as it should be. Desslok's dog now faithfully protects his master. It is a Belgian Malinois. Be warned.
Aralu	The crash only Keep key component has been modified to reset with the rest of the zone (at some percentage chance). This was the bargain we made in order to remove the ever-irritating spike load on the Elite Warrior. Sorry Ed, no more tater spike loads.
Training Grounds	The Training Grounds has been given a facelift. All battlefield mobs now possess their innate class proc. For example, warrior classes will exhibit warrior class skills. Masters are now Guildmaster Trainers, so you can train with them as you advance levels in the Grounds. On the battlefields, all members of a room tier must be defeated before ascending to the next room tier as was originally intended by the zone author. There is now a fountain in the battlefields.
Cheers Bar!	The Cheers Bar now features a full cast of regulars plus multiple season guest stars! There's a hidden secret in the bar -- can you discover it?
Gyles Keep	The garrison of Gyles Keep (in honor of the author of Skara Brae) has been upgraded. The Violet Sashes (previously purple sashes) offer more xp but are considerably more challenging. Proceed with caution.
The Watch Towers	The Watch Towers received a facelift, adding some beefier mobs with matching xp (akin to initiates in Pagoda), and some training facilities have been built on the ground floor of four of the towers. The Watch Towers are now linked by a network of underground catacombs. Beware! An evil demi-goddess awaits, biding her time under the streets of Sanctuary City!
Bars	Bars now feature gambling! Check out the one-armed bandits and win valuable prizes! The payout is poor (< 50%) but the fun is 200%! You have a one in a million chance to obtain the top prize! >pull slot
Valhalla	Valhalla, no longer a maximum level restricted zone, got some much needed XP upgrades for its pantheon of Gods and Goddesses. Expect adjusted mob difficultly to match that of other 75K mobs!
