In order to differentiate in-game quests from trigger-based quests, I've decided to refer to trigger-based quests that offer badges as you attain quest tiers as "Badge Quests.'

I came across this idea while playing the popular kid's game Wizard 101. You could complete tasks a number of increasing times and earn and unlock badges, pretty much like 99% of all other games out there post XBOX/PSX.

How do They Work?

Typically, a mob will interact with you in conversation, laying out a demand for a service. It might be something like this:

"Warrior, I have a task that I cannot complete, but perhaps might appeal to a hero of your stature."

"Bring me the heads of Minotaurs throughout the land!"

Or some such nonsense. You get it, another raving mad, power-hungry lunatic demanding blood for a long-lost ritual or vendetta or other.

For you, this means:

  1. Locate a minotaur. Find any mob with minotaur in their SDESC. The SDESC (short description) is the description you see when they enter the room. The long description is what you see when you look at them.
  2. Kill it. Any way you can.
  3. Bring the corpse back to the initial mob making the request.
  4. Drop the corpse at their feet.

The mob should react, telling you you're amazing and letting you know your status.

If the mob is also an in-game quest master, to differentiate in-game quests from badge quests, just use the badge keyword when access the quest interface:

>quest badge
